For our Dear Cousin Janet, who loves all of the ponies.
We all know of your big heart and we love you because of it;
and when your heart breaks for someone else's pony, we all love you even more.

Don't Cry for the Horses
By Brenda Riley-Seymore
Don't cry for the horses that life has set free
Don't cry for the horses now in God's hands
As they dance and they prance to a heavenly band.
They were ours as a gift but never to keep
As they close their eyes forever to sleep
A million white horses against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven you'll see them above
The horses we lost, the horses we loved
Manes and tails flowing they Gallop through time
Don't cry for the horses. They will be back someday,
When our time has come they will show us the way
On silver wings they will lift us to the warmth of the sun.
When our life is over and eternity has begun.
We will jump the sun and dance over the moon
A ballet of horses and riders on the winds to a heavenly
Don't cry for the horses, love the ones that are here.
Don't cry for the horses lift up your sad eyes
Can't you see them as they fly by?
A million White Horses free from hunger and pain
Their spirits set free until we ride again

You just made me cry Cuz K!
Oh no!! It wasnt supposed to make you cry .... it was supposed to help you!
So sorry to hear about the loss of a pony. Wonderful poem.
My heart goes to you PC Janet... Keep your pony alive in your heart though--- and hold onto him forever there!
So sorry to read about PC Janet's loss. Your thoughts are with her.
Remember the wind you feel on your cheek is the spirit of horses kissing you
That was really sweet Cuz K. Loved the artwork. Just to clarify for everyone, my mom did not lose a pony of her own. It was a horse at her barn that had to be laid to rest. They really did it with grace and dignity, which was nice.
It is so, so hard when we lose them because they touch our lives in so many ways. But we carry them in our hearts and our memories, and they are always alive and well there.
I'm sorry for your loss, PC Janet.
That is beautiful. I lost my mare--Gallant ambush--last September. she 22 yrs--not so old but .......
She was a beautiful quarter Horse Paint--excellent when 'somehow' she broke her shoulder and couldn't be repaired. So she is running on sweet pasture until I see her again. MaryBeth

I am terrible, I am selfish. I learn of someone else who has lost a horse and I think only of my own future grief at the inevitable loss of Janow. His pugnacious self is still here.
I doomed myself to this years ago when I described Janow as the horse I will ride in heaven.
The tallow truck came this morning, not such an unusual occurance at a boarding stable of 230 head. I try not to know, I try not to see. This morning I saw. It took away a grey. Like Janow.
I hear of someone else's loss and I cry. They are not tears of sympathy or sorrow, they are tears of terror.
Cara,
I get that where my heart is. I do feel the loss for others...because I KNOW =it'll be my Wa mare sometime..they all get to Run with manes flowing across the sky~
Very beautiful
Ohhhhhhhhhh, that is so sad!
Awww...I'm sorry Janet.
I know all too well that it sucks.
I know that the hurt will never go away competely - but in time it will hurt less, keep moving on cowgirl - its all we can do...every cowgirl who has ever lost pony is standing behind you holding you up...
What a beautigul poem and the pictures are wonderful. My sister is a horse lover and has done several oils of horses, most recently her paintings show gorgeous stallions coming through the ocean waves. She paints it so it looks like the waves are the horses hindquarters. It's hard to explain, but she really dose some wonderful work.
I feel a lot of compassion for anyone who has lost a pet, be it a horse, dog or whatever. We love them so deeply it's like we have lost a part of ourself.
The art in this post is absolutely amazing.
Thanks for such a beautiful post.
